A total of 13 divers of the project’s “Removal Action Teams (RATs)” implemented a lionfish removal expedition on the 4th of April 2021 at Akrotiri, Cyprus. The divers created six teams (five teams of two divers and the other one with three). The event was led by the “Marine and Environmental Research (MER) Lab”, while the RATs divers were members of the Limassol’s “Nautilus Club” – whom we once again thank for their support. Members who dived in the Bahames area caught a total of 44 lionfish of various sizes. Teams that dived in the Anchorage diving spot were able to remove 52 lionfish of different sizes. The smallest in length lionfish was 6 cm.
