Lionfish removals in the Amathounta “MPA”

On the 14th of August 2020, the “Marine & Environmental Research (MER) Lab” organised and implemented a lionfish removal in Limassol. The “University of Plymouth” and three “RATs” members partook at the removal lead by “MER Lab” at the artificial reefs of the Amathounta “Marine Protected Area (MPA)”. A total of 16 lionfish of different sizes were removed from all the pyramid structures in the area. Lionfish removed during the removal were used for consumption and fins were cut for jewellery making. We would like to that the “RATs” for helping during the removal.
