Press Conference on 15th June 2018
June 15, 201853rd European Marine Biology Symposium, in Belgium
September 21, 2018On the 21st to 24th of August 2018, “Marine and Environmental Research (MER) Lab” completed the second round of surveys at Cape Greco as part of the ecological monitoring of the project (D2). At all stations fish censuses are carried out by a diver at an area (2.5 m from each side of the transect) along three transects 25 m long each. At the same time another diver records lionfish numbers, size, distance from the line, depth and habitat preference. The diver covers a distance of 10 m from each side of the line transect using a zig-zag search.
From all the studied sites tested to removal pressure, 15 lionfish were removed of various sizes.
