The “RELIONMED-Life” project created two short TV spots, with the assistance of the “A. APPIOS COMMUNICATIONS LIMITED”. The first brief video intends to inform the public about the lionfish problem being faced and why its invasion is an issue, mentioning the characteristics of the species that may negatively impact the marine ecosystems of the area. The latter one refers to some of the actions taken by the project to help tackle the lionfish invasion in the Mediterranean. In just a few seconds, the video conveys ways in which everyone can help. Lionfish is an edible, tasty and nutritious fish. Furthermore, beautiful jewelleries can be created using its soft fins. Also, citizens who are active at sea are requested to use the “IUCN-MedMIS” website and/or application to upload reports on lionfish sightings to help monitor the lionfish abundance and distribution in the Mediterranean.
The two TV spots were broadcasted on “CyBC” (“ΡΙΚ 1”), from the 3rd until the 18th of November 2020, and on “ALPHA” Cyprus, from the 18th until the 28th of November 2020. You can check out the two short TV spots below and share them with others to spread the information!
