May 22, 2019Ms. Yiota Lazarou (from the “University of Cyprus”) participated in the “Citizen Science Training Seminar”, which was held on the 16th of May 2019. Attendees included mostly professional divers. “RELIONMED’s” representative presented the project, explaining mostly the development of “RATs” and the 1st derby (that would soon take place) in order to remove lionfish from Cyprus’ waters. Interested divers had the chance to discuss with the “RELIONMED’s” Scientific Coordinator (who also participated in the aforementioned training seminar). Divers showed they are willing to participate in the “Removal Action Teams (RATs)”.
The event was planned by the project “RECONNECT”. It was organised by the “Department of Biological Sciences” of the “University of Cyprus” and the “Department of Fisheries and Marine Research”, Cyprus. During the event, the two projects (“RELIONMED” and “RECONNECT”) got the chance to network further.
